Coverage

Single pet and multi pet Insurance, with a discount, is offered. Time Limited £3,000 cover is offered where each condition and illness will be covered from 12 months since the pet first started showing symptoms. Once the limit is reached for a condition that condition will no longer be covered. Two Maximum Benefit cover levels are offered (£3,000 and £6,000) which provide cover up to the maximum amount per condition. Four Lifetime cover levels are offered (£2,500, £5,000, £7,500 and £10,000) which provide cover up to a maximum amount each year.

Cover for the death of your pet, loss or theft cover to help with advertising, emergency boarding fees and holiday cover are all included as standard.

Excess

A fixed excess per condition is deducted from the first claim for each separate illness, injury or condition. Under certain conditions you also pay a percentage of the remaining claim amount in addition to the excess.

Age Limits

From 8 weeks to 9 years of age. If insurance is purchased before your pet's 9th birthday there is no upper age to renewals if there are no breaks in cover.

Waiting Period

Accidents and poisonings 3 days, illnesses 14 days. Both limits are waived if you are switching to Sainsbury's Bank PI from another pet insurer. 

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, grooming or cosmetic treatments, routine care.

Because of the hassle I have had I wrote to the CEO to try and get something sorted. Not Even a reply. I have decided that the Sainsbury's group do not need my money or trade.
My final claim ( my cat was put to sleep) and after 14 days I rang them to ask...

When trying to settle a claim for my cat ,one thing has been consistent with Sainsburys ...delays and being told different things by different people . I have decided not to renew but put money aside instead . Definitely not worth the nectar points !

I thought that my dog deserved 'the best' so took out a premium policy for her through Sainsburys . No issues and no claims for years until early 2014 when she developed heart failure .Claim sent in mar ,I was assured they would deal direct with the vets...
