Very bad experience with Tesco Pet Insurance for my adopted ex racing greyhound I’ve had for 6 years now aged 9. For Tesco you can read Sainsbury’s etc, etc, all underwritten and owned by the same mob.
The pet insurance business, as has veterinary practices, been hijacked by large unscrupulous multi nationals who have no interest in pet welfare but just the lucrative and astronomical amount money that can be made out of it. Their claim dealing modus operandi is the three Ds, delay, deny and defend. My advice when you take on a pet; make sure you have reasonable funds in the first place, put some money away each month to cover usual costs and a bit more for the unexpected. If you don’t need it then it’s a bonus. Choose your vet carefully, don’t fall fowl to upselling and set your limit. Quality of life, know when it’s time to say goodbye. Under no circumstances allow yourself to be robbed wasting your money on a worthless insurance that will not provide peace of mind.
