I have insured my dog with Tesco Pet Insurance for many years. After he suffered seizures and had to be put to sleep, I was hit with a £600 bill for his final care and cremation. Despite my policy stating a 'Bereavement' limit of £200, Tesco has seen fit to settle the claim for a insulting £56.
It is clear that Tesco preys on loyal customers, happy to take premiums, but hides behind 'senior pet' clauses and complex math when it’s time to actually provide the support they promised. To offer £56 toward a £600 end-of-life bill for a dog that has been on their books for years is cold-hearted and professionally shameful. If you are looking for an insurer that shows any compassion or value for money in a pet's final years, look elsewhere. They have added unnecessary stress to an already heartbreaking time.
