My pet insurance was increased by just under 120% from around £165 to £365 A MONTH.
Given my dog's age and health issues, I expected an increase, but this is just obscene. There was no discussion, just standard patronising letters giving their "reasons", and trying to say they care. If they did, they would have taken into consideration the fact that between myself and the vets, who do care, we had agreed that there would be no further invasive or major procedures done on my beautiful pup. They just weren't interested in hearing this
I've been with Tesco pet insurance for over 8 years, and fully acknowledge that I have had to make some very expensive claims, and did expect a significant increase in my premium, but not to this extent
Tesco have changed underwriter in last few months, and this feels like a way for them to get rid of older dogs with health issues. I'm sure their profits won't suffer, especially if they only insure younger, healthy animals. What is the point of "lifetime" policies if they aren't affordable
I pay home, car etc insurance and have claimed for minor things only two - three times in 50 years. I accept and expect that money from my premium will help others not in my fortunate position. Obviously this principle does not apply to pet insurance with this company
