I have 5 cats & dogs insured with Many Pets, & had 3 others in the past. Although it initially took them around a year to reduce the claim times, they always paid everything I expected. So having lost my 3 previous 'oldies' I have insured my new furry family with them. Claim times seem very much improved now & the whole procedure is incredibly easy. No forms to fill or invoices to send. Just a few short online questions & they will contact your vet for all the info. If it's a bit complicated you can always give them a call. And they answer the phone!
I have always shopped around for insurance & find Many Pets' premiums are very competitive for a good level of cover. A range of optional excesses can be used to make premiums more affordable. I have started mine off with a zero excess which is more expensive but handy for younger animals who tend to be more accident prone. Cover for a pre-existing condition after 2 years was reassuring to have for 1 of my previous cats.
Concerning the clause about not paying for non life threatening treatment out of hours, which is in the small print of many companies, I queried this with Many Pets before taking out the insurance. They said that an animal in pain would normally be considered an emergency. They provide free telephone & video consultations with First Vet, who I have used on 2 occasions, & they should be able to tell you if it is necessary to seek immediate treatment. Many Pets paid the claim on both occasions but beware not all insurers will.
So if you are prepared to possibly wait a little longer for a claim to be paid, but secure in the knowledge that anything reasonable wont be rejected, then Many Pets are your best option in my opinion.
