Trying to buy a £450 policy with Petplan made me feel like I was begging for charity! They asked if my 10 year old healthy little dog had ‘ever seen a vet’ ! One thing I told them about was having the dog’s teeth routinely cleaned for plaque removal - a good thing right? No! They then excluded anything to do with the dog’s mouth from a policy that normally covered it! Did he display signs of ‘scavenging behaviour’ - I just wanted to laugh - having had many dogs I’ve yet to meet one who doesn’t! Basically if you fill in anything in the ‘has your dog ever visited a vet’ box you get the application suspended and a novice gets to interrogate you and put you on hold while he runs to ‘the man upstairs’ to convey the answers. Anyone would think you were being given something not buying it - I want my dog covered not to donate to Allianz !
