I made the error of switching from petplan to direct line to try and reduce my monthly premiums. Took them less than 1 year renewal despite zero claims to get to the price I was paying for petplan. Aside, first major claim (benign lump removal) and they declined it conveniently with 3 weeks to go before my renewal. They stated that because there was a small lump which we investigated and was confirmed by the vet prior to me taking out insurance 18 months ago as harmless and not requiring intervention, that because this same lump had grown and since required surgical removal was considered a pre-condition!! All professionals I have spoken with think this is a poor service and manipulation of very generic terms in their policy which gives them legal grounds. My advice, stick with PetPlan, you pay a premium, but they look after your dog and they look after you!!
