My dog was insured with pet-insurance.co.uk for about 5 years from age 7 to 12. ( premium at 12 was £27/month) It was by far the most reasonable premium esp. when he got to 8 years old, although the cover they give for physio, hospitalisation did not completely cover the costs but if you read the small print in your documents when you take the policy out you won't be surprised. As with other insurance they exclude previous issues unless you have lifetime cover; the premium went up every year but it was consistently cheaper than other companies, and i think this is standard as your dog ages the risk of illness increases.
We had numerous claims with cuts, shoulder & spinal injuries, breathing difficulties & claims were always paid promptly.
The reason I am writing this review was because of what happened when my dog died. In the 2 weeks before he was put to sleep in August we ran up a bill of over £1000 on tests, consultations, pills and hospitalisation. As I paid monthly & my policy renewed in June I excepted to have to pay for the rest of the policy year having made such a large claim but they wrote to me saying that they had cancelled my policy when they saw that my dog had died and even refunded that month's premium! I will definitely use them again.
