Good on claims, but a rip-off if you leave them!

I have had my pet policy with Tesco pet insurance for ten years. When the time came, due to finances, I telephoned to terminate my pet contract.
My very first communication with Tesco Pet Insurance came to me by email on 02 November 2011, so I assumed that after all the intervening years some customer loyalty would have developed and I would have most of that money returned to me.
Instead of loyalty, I found that when I called Tesco Bank, noting a payment had just been taken (within a matter of days), I assumed that the majority of my payment would be returned, but NO.
Of the £55.03 taken from my bank account on 3rd August 2020, I received only £15.53 - and received a letter telling me of this on 11th August.
On this basis, I have lost almost £40 for the few days between payment and cancellation.
Shame on Tesco Pet Insurance!
