My dog has a yearly ear infection that happens every winter and it goes away after one treatment. Vet menionted that maltipoos are prone to ear infection . The first time he had an infection i called the petplan if i can make a claim and they told me that due to excess, the amount wont be covered. That was back in 2017.
This winter, my dog's ear infection will not go away. it persisted for 3 months and the vet suggested a swap and send to the lab for testing. This procedure cost me over £600. And to my horror Pet plan refused to cover me, said that my insruance cover was for a 12 mths illness coverage.
My argument is that the ear infection is like catching a flu, it is not pre-existing illness like asthma. And the lab results returned saying it was due to yeast infection. And if i didnt do a swap test back in 2017, how could they even relate that the previous infection was due to yeast.
considering i have paid so much for pet insurance over the years, i am shocked they they refused my claim.
