Rip off

Last year I went online and tried to arrange insurance for my dog. I booked the second level and paid, however the Tesco website was freezing and going round in circles so I left it to try again later. I had no confirmation of having bought anything no email or anything left. I tried the same next day and this time I was successful. 12 months later I had 2 renewals for the dog insurance. Same named dog same date of birth, breed, everything, but a different reference number? I rang Tesco and they said I'd had 2 seperate policies running and I couldn't be refunded for one because I'd had 12 months cover. So Tesco had 2 identical policies running. I only ever at the beginning got one email confirmation. Why?, if I'd had 2 I'd have realised and cancelled one. How can Tesco insure an identical dog twice and not realise? There was no claim made during the year. This is obviously my fault for not checking my credit card statement. But this to me is an indication of the type of service that a customer can expect to receive if you use tesco pet insurance.
