The KC came up best in comparisons for the two brachycephallic breeds that I own. To match the same level of cover offered by Petplan for £110 per month, the KC halved that but added more excess and a 10% and 20% fee of total cost... which still came in cheaper than petplan, with whom three of my other dogs are insured with.
There are cheaper companies out there but I’ve read so much about the length of time it took to get a successful claim from them.
The KC paid the vet directly, we only had to find the agreed additional fees.
Nobody wants their dog to be ill or to suffer injuries but when these things do happen, it’s a great weight off your mind knowing that your dog will get the expert help they need.
It must be heartbreaking to think that a heart breaking decision of putting a dog to sleep, is the only affordable option.
I would like to think that as insurance becomes more popular among dog owners, the price will reduce as currently with 5 dogs to insure, a ne whole week of my work is dedicated to insurance alone.
The multi dog discount is t enough of a saving to swap my other dogs and there are too many issues when it comes to switching insurance companies. Existing illness issues burden the person seeking insurance and someone needs to be the first to pave the way for new policies.
Imagine if you had house insurance , but we’re burgled 5 years ago and now felt too afraid to live I survive companies despite their rising premiums?
Sounds silly... but this is exactly how the majority of claimants feel when it comes to pet insurance.
This needs to change.
Maybe the KC being the top of the tree when it comes to dogs, will lead the way. Let’s hope so.
