I cannot recommend KC Insurance highly enough especially to people who are new pet owners. Obviously there are the usual reasons such as the copious amounts of benefits you get advertising for lost pets, refund of purchase price upon death, public liability cover etc etc. but there are a few points that are crucial that most people overlook time and again. Can you get cheaper insurance elsewhere? Absolutely, but it does not even come close to comparing with the cover you get from the Kennel Club and I'll explain why.
1. You can adjust the premium to suit your finances - firstly you can not only change the excess you pay when claiming but you can also adjust the % you expect to claim which both naturally reduces your overall premium.
2. The cover is renewed each year - Unlike a lot of other companies not only does it cover you against illness but it renews the amount each year so for example if you are covered for £5k a lot of other companies will not payout once you reach that amount. With the KC it renews each year as the claim is for the life of the illness. Trust me I've lost 2 Boxers in the last 10 months to cancer and £5k does not go a long way at all (there's no NHS for Pets). God forbid if you have a pet that develops a long term condition requiring ongoing treatment/medication you will find that your cover is quickly used up so being able to renew a claim each year helps a little with the burden of constant unavoidable Vets fees.#
3. The Kennel Club covers common conditions - This is important especially when insuring pedigree breeds as some are more susceptible to certain conditions. For example the KC covers against heart conditions in Boxer Dogs whereas some cheaper companies will not cover these types of condition as Boxers are known for developing heart conditions, and if they do they usually charge a higher premium for it unlike the Kennel Club.
4. Sadly I have had to claim twice in the last 10 months for two of my dogs who both suffered different forms of cancer and I can honestly say that not only was the process incredibly simple and straightforward but the staff are very caring and understanding. They even refunded the monthly premium without me asking and are always available to help out with any queries.
Feel free to explore all options for your pet insurance but you won't find a better company when it comes to quality of cover, price, benefits, ease of claim, customer service and all round reliability.
