Surprised to see so many negative reviews for petplan on here. I had two cats both suffered from Kidney disease in their later years (one chronically) and one had major stomach issues. They lived to 16 and 18. Each claim was dealt with effectively and quickly, the only delay I had was the last claim for my remaining cat after it had had treatment and subsequently died and there was a delay in petplan getting the information they needed (the claim was £2,800).

True, they are not the cheapest and they do charge more per claim as the pets get older but from my own individual experience they have not let me down. At the end, Rufus had such bad kidney disease that he was being blood tested every month. Each time a claim was raised and each time it was paid (minus the original excess and the 20% of each claim). They even paid the medication.

No insurer is perfect but it was a comfort in my cats later years that these kind of issues and any problems would be covered. And to that extent, petplan delivered.
