I took out an insurance policy for our dog, poppy, based on reviews submitted by other policy holders. Most of the other pet insurance companies have terrible reviews which suggest the policies are worthless. Lifetime pet cover was one of the few with consistently good reviews and competitive pricing. I have not had to make any claims yet so if the need arises I will submit an updated review then.
