UNBELIEVEABLE premium hikes!!

3

I have just received my renewal for my 5kg crossbreed dog with Tesco. This would be my 5th year insuring my dog with them. In the first year the policy was £80ish per year. Second year it rose to £180. Third year £220ish. Fourth year £243. And this year they want £437!!!! They have almost DOUBLED it in the last year - with no claims made since the first year of the policy!!
Luckily I have found an insurance company who will cover my dog - even with his pre-existing condition (in this case a back injury) for HALF of what Tesco want to charge.
Not happy and would never recommend.

Breed

Toy Mixed Breed (1 - 10 lbs)

Species:
Dog

I too have the same problem with my premiums, I have an 8 year old crossbreed large dog for whom I have only made £500 of claims during the last 7 years and my premiums have been hiked to over £1,200 per annum. Utterly ridiculous. I would be very interested to know who you have managed to get your insurance with please. My dog has no pre existing conditions as all we claimed for are cut paws and a limp.

Hi, It is lifetimepetcover.co.uk. They have been set up specifically for people like us, who would otherwise be trapped with greedy insurance companies. Good luck with your renewal.

Let your policy expire and apply as a new customer. The customer services actually advised my mum that that would be the best thing to do as there was such a huge difference between the two prices!!

I have just had exactly the same experience, the premium has nearly doubled for my three dogs, gone from £650 per year to £1200.
It is ridiculous, and looks like they will be losing customers in droves as there area fair few of us with this experience.
Poor Show Tesco

who did you re-insure with, just bought puppy and am horrified at reviews on all companies, is there an insurance company for dogs out there that doesn't hike renewal prices up excessiveley yearly and pays as promptly
as the premiums are paid, I DESPAIR ON FINDING ONE, isn't it about time some government body looked into insurance for pets, also the variation vets charges.
