The yearly increase from this company is massive. I have claimed a small amount on my policy as my dog requires ongoing medication care for her eye. I reduce the cost of medication by purchasing it from petdrugs on line rather then paying full vet fees. There has been a 200% increase in yearly fees in three years on the policy and I’m told this is not due to claims but due to rising vet fees. My medication fees for my dog have not changed since I took the policy out so you are essentially paying for all the other customers they have aswell. You ring them and are told there is nothing they can do about the price. I cannot change insurers as the condition would be classed as pre existing and kennel club are fully aware of this so see fit to charge you what they’re want knowing full well you will have to pay it. With these rising costs, in a year or so I will be potentially be paying £1000 a year plus for a small toy size dog.
The customer service people won’t listen to you and talk over you just to justify the rise in costs. Avoid, unless you have loads of money to pay out on insurance. They increased fees for my other dog when I was with them too when I had never claimed on it and I was forced to swop insurers to a much cheaper price with just as good life cover. However, I’m stuck with these unfortunately due to the pre existing condition category if I were to swop.
Don’t be tempted with their introductory offers. They real you in, tell you what a good deal you are getting and then boom..... the next year they get all the discount back from you by doubling the fees then. We all expect things to go up but not this much! Avoid and do your homework on insurance companies and what they offer. In hindsight wish I had when I took out this policy.
