I have never made a claim. Every year my premium increases have been extortionate- 12%, 18%… with the excuses that vet bills are more expensive. This year, as our dog turned six it is a 30% increase! I don’t know of any vets increasing fees by this much. I have been told it is the age of the dog - yes by 12 months each year and she is six! I can understand that risk is high for the first couple of years, and in old age. In middle age most pets have settled down. I have been told that it is due to the breed, except that doesn’t work as an excuse as the breed hasn’t changed! Pet plan capitalise on our love for our animals to extort unjustifiable premium increases each year!
