Have a Jack a poo and took out John Lewes Dog insurance when he was 10 weeks old. Paid Premium for one year. On renewal premium went up as expected even though no claims were made. On renewal I phoned up to say that Dog had now been nuetered and they raised the Premium even more. So much for my honesty. Vets say that castration is beneficial to health and prevents risk of some cancers. Yet John Lewes class castration as an extra risk needing a higher premium than would have otherwise been the case. This is typical of insurance companies and i will probably cancel next year.Underwriters say it is higher risk after dog has been castrated. Better off saving your money and paying vets bills as you go as obviously their underwriters are better qualified than vets.
